About AW Environmental Solutions

AWES assist building/infrastructure maintenance and plant managers and safety, health and environmental engineers whose responsibility it is to comply with environmental legislation relating to pollution prevention (secondary containment of oil and chemicals), consult on corrosion of steelwork in aggressive environments and the upgrade of sewer network infrastructure across a wide range of industrial companies.

INDUSTRIES

  • Food and Beverage (distilleries, breweries and food processing plants)
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical plants
  • Leisure Industry buildings and facilities
  • Potable water and sewage utility companies
  • Power generation industry/infrastructure
  • Marine industry (including ballast tanks)
  • Public Authority Infrastructure (highway and streetscape steelwork)
  • Public Authority Housing
  • Industrial Warehouse/Building Maintenance
  • Railway companies (masonry arch structural enhancement and repair)
  • Agricultural industry (milking parlours/grain storage)
  • Petro-chemical industry

SPECIALIST COATING TECHNOLOGY

  • Food Grade Coatings for long-term corrosion protection of steelwork
  • Glass - flake coatings (chemical bund storage)
  • Damp or "green" concrete primers and coatings
  • Seamless food grade industrial floor coatings and screeds
  • Rust converters/primers and coatings for long term protection of mild, galvanised and stainless steel structures
  • Coatings for under-water applications, i.e. submerged steel jetty structures (applied by divers)
  • Anti-Static and conductive coatings for Industrial flooring/storage.
  • Elastomeric fast-cure polyurea coatings for concrete and masonry
  • Coatings for galvanised steel grain silo protection/streetscape steelwork (acid-etching is not necessary)
  • "Zero rated" fire coatings and "loose lay" geomembranes for secondary containment in explosive environments (oil refineries)
  • Building Maintenance coatings (food production areas/plantrooms)
  • "Confined Space" tank and vessel internal linings/coatings
  • High Temperature Coating systems (applied to production pipes/tanks in service at 180 °C)
  • Structural grade epoxy coatings for masonry arch and sewer pipe and culvert rehabilitation/chemical protection/arrest groundwater infiltration
  • Reinforced encapsulation coatings for internal and external asbestos sheeting (ARCA approved)
  • Coatings for under-water marine application avoiding expensive coffer dam construction

SPECIALISATIONS (Coating Products Selection and Site Application Services)

AWES designs and implements solutions for a wide range of Industrial corrosion and containment (oil and chemical) challenges working in conjunction with specialist contractors and maintenance crews. Although not limited to these areas AWES provides its clients with product and/or service design proposals relating to;

1) Oil Storage Regulation Compliance or "secondary containment" coating and membrane selection for bunded storage of oils and chemicals

2) Long-Term Corrosion Protection of Steelwork in aggressive industrial and marine environments including the "food and drinks"/food processing industries.

3) Rehabilitation of clay, masonry and concrete sewers/culverts and underground structures where the cause of the problem may be structural failure, chemical attack/corrosion or groundwater infiltration.

Quite often, AWES is retained by the client for project management of the carefully selected specialist contractor during the site installation phase, to ensure the project is delivered within the timescale and in accordance with the quality, environmental and health and safety constraints pertinent to the client's business sector.

AWES Design Philosophy

At design stage the careful selection of a technically advanced protective coating product which will tolerate the application environment/site conditions will minimize project downtime/shorten timescales as well as lengthen the time to first maintenance for the client.

Health and Safety and environmental risk assessment outputs are key considerations in specialist coating selection for the particular working environment during the site application stage and service life.

A reduction in project cost and exposure to health and safety risk, extended service life and compliance with legislation can all be achieved together, by adopting technically advanced specialist coating systems/products that have the following key features and benefits:

  • tolerant to corroded (steel), damp and wet substrates
  • tolerant to high temperature steel substrates (vessels and pipework in service)
  • free of solvent and styrene (confined space tank lining and food grade environments)
  • avoids excessive steel/concrete substrate preparation
  • do not require dehumidification, forced ventilation or heating (cost reductions)as part of substrate preparation
